In 2022, Upper Sandusky Rotary began to honor local veterans through a downtown banner program. Just prior to Memorial Day, Rotary backed Hometown Heroes banners are hung on poles along Sandusky and Wyandot Avenues. The banners include veterans who are from or lived in Wyandot County.
Formerly the "Good Eggs for Easter" program, each year the Upper Sandusky Rotary Club garners community support to provide back-to-school clothing to area children in need. In the initial 2024 offering, the program provided back-to-school outfits for 36 local students in need.
The Rotary Club of Upper Sandusky donates time each year to make the city's downtown blooming and beautiful! The downtown beautification project is a win-win as the City of Upper Sandusky purchases the flowers for this project from the Upper Sandusky High School band fundraiser.
The Lee Kirkland Memorial Scholarship is made in honor of local educator and former school Superintendent Lee Kirkland who was a 50-Year Member of Rotary. Mr. Kirkland served as Rotary Club President in 1979-80.
The Robert Elsmore Memorial Scholarship is made in honor of local educator and also former school Superintendent Bob Elsmore. Mr. Elsmore was a 5-year member of Rotary.
The Rotary Club of Upper Sandusky's Service Above Self (SAS) Award is made annually to an individual or group who has demonstrated outstanding humanitarian service, giving of themselves for a worthy cause, or helping others in the community. SAS Nomination Form are normally due near the beginning of each year.
Each year the Rotary Club takes part in the community's dazzling Christmas light display known as the Fantasy of Lights. While Rotary manages 2 displays, the Fantasy Express train and the Penguins & Igloo displays, this event is the combination of service clubs, community organizations, and businesses across Wyandot County.
Each year the Rotary Club of Upper Sandusky holds a pancacke breakfast in early December that is the primary means of support for the organization's charitable giving throughout the year.
You can find the Rotary Club trailer at the Wyandot County Fair and many other events around town selling bags of its delicious home-made kettle corn. That's right! The club and its members maintain a kettle corn operation, which proceeds help to increase the amount of support Rotary is able to provide through its charitable giving.
Rotary makes a huge impact on the local community through charitable giving. Whether it be financial, labor, or supplies, the club approves various donations on nearly a regular monthly basis.

This project provides Upper Sandusky with the first ADA equipped playground equipment in the City! Ground cover will soon be installed making this equiment open to the public and ready for the upcoming school year.
